2007 marks the twenty-second edition of New Stories from the South, which aims to be an "enduring celebration of the short story" with a focus on writers from the American South.

Edward P. Jones had his first story published in the yearly anthology in 1993. He later won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle award for his novel The Known World, and returns to New Stories from the South this year as its editor.

Jones will speak about his work as author and editor and introduce two new talents, Joshua Ferris and Angela Threatt, who have stories published in the anthology this year.
