Rachel Maddow to have a show?!

I've been saying this for a while now. Now the times confirms my suspicions that Rachel Maddow, of Air America fame, is on the short list for a show on MSNBC.

From NYTimes by JACQUES STEINBERG:
"Now in Living Rooms, the Host Apparent" —

“At some point, I don’t know when, she should have a show,” said Phil Griffin, hours before he was promoted on Wednesday to president of MSNBC. “She’s on the short list. It’s a very short list. She’s at the top.”

I've been listening to her since the first day she took to the mike with her show Unfiltered with Chuck D and Liz Winsted. She's had other shows on the air and has somehow weathered the windy storms that is Air America with their constant changing of managerial staff and canceling of successful shows (like Morning Sedition and Randi Rhodes) and putting on of mediocor, terrible shows like Lionel and, of all people, Jerry Springer (What the hell were they thinking??!)

MSNBC desperately needs it, since most of the hosts on the station are just horrible. (That is, except for Keith Olbermann. Just love that guy.) The content on MSNBC, to put it frankly, stinks. Show after show, host after hos,t are former conservative, testing-the-wind-to-see-which-direction-it's-blowing pundits. (Hint: it's blowing to the left.) If it's not going to be news, then at least be entertaining. And for God's sake stop insulting my intelligence every time you draw breath!

Well, with a Rachel on the air, I will be able to breathe deep. She's smart, and funny and easy on the eyes. Adding her to the lineup will surely brighten my days. Go Rachel, go!
