Did an hour of writing today
I'm glad that I was able to do some writing again. I think that it's getting harder to write. I recognize that I'm just a beginner so I don't expect this book to be stellar. But it is definitely getting harder. This is the fifth draft of this book so it is beyond just laying out the scenes. I have to think more. It's hard to carve scenes out of ...well, nothing. Writing make me feel vulnerable. Does that make sense? I feel exposed when I try to write. Silly isn't it.

i wonder...when it feels hard, do you feel comfortable taking a break? i find when i'm having a hard time getting sentences down, there's something (related or unrelated to writing) i need to work out before coming back to the page. i hope this makes sense.
I have a similar problem when I write Jenn. I am definitely in the beginner ranks and mainly I have just played within poetry and erotic fiction but I want to take it more seriously.
I find I have a lot of problems remaining focussed on writing or else, like you, I find myself feeling vulnerable and exposed and in my case, worried I am putting too much of myself into what I write.
I am currently reading a great book called Creativity for Life: Practical Advice on the Artist's Personality and Career from America's Foremost Creativity Coach and it brought up a lot of valid points about the problems writers have. Whether it's self doubt, resistance or similar issues.
I certainly got a lot out of reading it so far and it even has some exercises in it that I found particularly useful.
Thank you both for the tips. I'm taking it slow and trying to get back in to a routine and regular schedule of writing. I was told that this is the best cure. Even if what you write doesn't come out the way you like, to just keep a regular schedule and write.

sometimes it can take me up to four hours to write one post for my blog...so if you can put something down in an hour and be happy with it... you are way ahead of my game...
i write every day,, just to keep the machine oiled you know????
