Andre Schiffrin from the New Press

This morning on Mr. Schiffrin of the New Press explained how the book publishing world has broken down in to being owned by only 5 companies (mostly in Germany: Bertelsmann and Holtzbrinck). I know that it's true. I was just glad to see someone say it in public.

I suppose I've just been depressed about the whole book selling thing. It's so lonely. I feel like an idiot for even trying. This is a business for the rich, not the intellectually curious. I'm so out of my league.
